Global Capital Markets (GCM) responds with market judgment and ingenuity to meet clients' needs for capital. Whether executing an IPO, a debt offering or a leveraged buyout, GCM integrates Morgan Stanley's expertise in Investment Banking and in Sales & Trading, offering clients seamless advice and sophisticated solutions. We originate, structure and execute public and private placements of equity and equity-linked securities, investment-grade and non-investment-grade debt and related products.
Internship Programs
Our Industrial Placement & Summer Analysts have the opportunity to be involved in an immersive orientation program and learn about our culture as well as the benefits and responsibilities of being a member of the Firm. You will be placed in one or more of our main product groups. You are exposed to the deal process—including business development, origination, structuring and execution—and will gain an understanding of how the different areas of the bank including Corporate Finance, Sales & Trading, Research and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A), interact.
In addition, Industrial Placement & Summer Analysts have many opportunities to exchange ideas and network with peers, mentors and senior managers through team-building sessions and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects during their internship. Our internship programs are designed to provide a realistic view of Global Capital Markets by having the interns assume the functions of Full-Time Analysts. Along the way, you will obtain a strong foundation in the basic skills of financial analysis and deal execution. You will be expected to start learning how to market the Firm’s products and services effectively.
Role and Responsibilities
The role and responsibilities of Industrial Placement & Summer Analysts vary but may include:
- You will spend the internship in one or more of our main product groups, building a foundation of financial skills and a solid understanding of the markets
- The work is challenging, you are encouraged to roll up your sleeves, dig into financial statements and construct innovative solutions
- You will have a mentor and buddy to aid in your development and to provide greater exposure to GCM and the Firm
- You will be encouraged to take on responsibility quickly and help bridge various topics from new trends in the marketplace to group overviews
- You will participate in a mid-point and end-point evaluation to ensure that you are honing your skills and receiving timely feedback on your performance
Qualifications and Skills
- You are pursuing an undergraduate Bachelor’s or Master's degree with a graduation date between October 2025 and July 2026
- You have an ability to manage multiple projects, provide complicated financial analysis, and develop appropriate corporate finance solutions
- You have extraordinarily high level of motivation and attention to detail
- You have commercial instinct and ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English is required
- Business fluency in Mandarin is preferred for the program in Hong Kong
- Business fluency in Southeast Asian languages is an advantage for the program in Singapore
Internship Period
- Industrial Placement Program: 6 months between January to July 2025
- Available in both Hong Kong and Singapore
- Summer Analyst Program: 10 weeks between June to August 2025
- Available in Hong Kong only
