Emerging Markets Equity team employs an active investment strategy by selecting securities which it believes will appreciate in value based on an analysis of sector, the expected return and growth of individual securities. When selecting securities investments, we adopt a long-term approach, focusing on the market price of a company’s securities relative to our evaluation of the company’s potential long-term earnings, asset value and cash flow potential. The lack of comprehensive sell-side research provides further opportunities for fundamentals-oriented portfolio managers.
The Off-Cycle Internship is an opportunity to experience the culture and atmosphere in the Investment Management Division by taking on some of the responsibilities and functions of a Full-time Analyst for a short period. This internship will offer you an exciting and a dynamic work environment where you get to work alongside our diverse group of experienced professionals. The work that you do will be interesting and varied.
The internship will commence in the H2 2024 and typically lasts three to six months.
TRAINING PROGRAM
You will receive on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in building research database and analysis:
- Collecting, summarizing and presenting data on company, market, industry and economic in Excel, PowerPoint or MS word
- Update financial data/model
- Analysis of data collected and preparation of reports - Perform fundamental financial analysis (ratio calculations etc.) on the
companies/sectors under the guidance of senior members of the investment team - Daily morning briefing to the investment team on latest company, market, sector, economy and regulatory announcements/news
- Support overall research and due diligence on the companies
- Assist in coordinating meetings, calls, and conference schedules, preparing company
meeting notes - Help in translation (Arabic/English) of various documents including presentation, board of directors’ report etc.
- Generally support the investment team in their day-to-day work or tasks as required, including the following:
- Monthly, quarterly updates on company/market/sectors/economy
- Others adhoc requests as applicable
- Adheres to all firm’s procedures and policies (code of conduct and other applicable rules and polices) - Ensuring that asset management code of conduct and the rule of law as stipulated by the CMA are adhered to
QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS/ REQUIREMENTS
- You have graduated from university or able to take the time off to commit for a full time internship role for three to six months if you are currently in study
- Major in Finance, Accounting, or related fields are preferred
- You are proactive, with ability to take on a high degree of responsibility and to execute critical work streams with limited supervision.
- You have an excellent academic background and fluency in English as well as Arabic, in full working proficiency
- You possess outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong team ethic that will enable the candidate to build and maintain a broad network within the global MSIP team as well as with advisors and partners
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills
- You have good analytical skills and fluent in using MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- You are able to work independently and in a team environment
