2018 Investment Management Summer Analyst Program - Alternative Investment Partners (West Conshohocken)

The Hedge Fund of Funds team constructs and manages portfolios of hedge funds and portable alpha solutions on behalf of institutional and high net-worth clients through its various pooled vehicles (limited partnerships) and segregated accounts. The Hedge Fund of Funds group currently manages $23.3 billion of hedge fund investments and is staffed with approximately 71 employees. It is based in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania (a suburb of Philadelphia), with additional personnel in New York and London.
The Hedge Fund of Funds team is seeking an individual who will assist in sourcing and monitoring discretionary global macro, emerging markets, and sovereign fixed income relative value hedge fund managers. Other hedge fund strategies considered by the team include long/short equity, event-driven, and various arbitrage or relative value strategies.
The candidate will report directly to a senior member of the team responsible for investment in discretionary global macro, emerging markets, and sovereign fixed income relative value strategies. This position is located in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will play a key role in the investment process.
RESPONSIBILITIES-
Opportunity Identification and Evaluation:
• Support the investment process in identifying compelling hedge fund managers globally.
• Due diligence duties include supporting strategy research to assess the opportunity set, participating in meetings to evaluate sources of return and risk, analyzing portfolio fit, and thoroughly documenting due diligence results.
Investment Execution:
• Work with strategy team in preparing investment analyses, and in drafting recommendations to the Investment Committee.
• Collaborate with other functional areas in coordinating the various operational aspects of hedge fund investing.
Investment Monitoring:
• Participate in and document quarterly (or more frequent) meetings with underlying investments.
• Continually assess the market environment and its impact on the risk reward of strategies.
• Review and analyze managers’ monthly performance, commentaries, and risk reports.
• Help maintain comprehensive manager universes to facilitate peer group analysis and strategy research.
• Participate in strategy and manager reviews and in preparation of associated presentations for the Investment Committee.
Qualifications:
• Exceptional academic performance and strong analytical skills
• Genuine enthusiasm for financial markets, macroeconomics, and alternatives investing
• Coursework in fixed income mathematics, derivatives valuation, and security analysis desirable
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Outstanding work ethic, self-motivated with good interpersonal skills
