2018 Prime Brokerage Client Coverage Summer Analyst Program (New York)
Morgan Stanley Prime Brokerage is a strategic partner to more than 800 hedge funds and institutional clients. Prime Brokerage Client Coverage provides clients with clearing and custody services, securities lending and financing, risk analytics, consulting, introductions to potential investors, and access to world-class proprietary technology. Prime Brokerage Client Coverage acts as a portal into the firm and assists clients with navigating Morgan Stanley’s vast resources such as Equity Sales and Trading, Derivatives, Securities Lending, Technology and Operations.
The Prime Brokerage Client Coverage Summer Analyst Program is a 10-week program consisting of one week of classroom training followed by 9 weeks on the desk. The Program features networking events, community service, a performance review and a mentorship program. Summer Analysts receive continuing on-the-job training and benefit from working alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects.
Summer Analysts begin with a one-day orientation where they are introduced to the Firm's businesses, learn about what it is like to be an employee at Morgan Stanley and network with Summer Analysts throughout the Firm. They then attend divisional specific training where they learn core skills essential to asuccessful summer. The curriculum includes daily market updates, business-specific overviews, and basic productand technical training
Responsibilities
- Work alongside experienced employees to understand client relationship dynamics and how to service their important business needs
- Develop a holistic understanding of the hedge fund industry and the multiple touch points across the Firm
- Research the history of a client and develop a profile of the client’s current business and potential opportunity for growth
- Analyze scenario-based client situations that will test analytical skills
- Work on a group project with other analysts and present to senior members of the client coverage team
Qualifications/Skills/Requirements
- You are pursuing an undergraduate degree (junior) [or a Master’s degree] with a graduation date of December 2018 or Spring 2019
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- You have basic knowledge of and a keen interest in finance
- You are analytical, adaptive, possess a strong work ethic, are a leader yet team player, as well as a multi-tasker
- You possess strong oral and written communication skills
