2018 Sales & Trading Industrial Placement Programme- Deleveraging and Lending Group
Placement and duration
This is an Industrial Placement opportunity in the Deleveraging and Lending Group within the Fixed Income division of our London office. The Deleveraging and Lending Group (DLG) is the real estate lending arm of Morgan Stanley which sits within the Securitised Products Group in Sales and Trading. The primary mandate of the group is to originate loans secured predominantly by real estate throughout the UK and Europe. Broadly speaking the desk is divided into two main business lines; direct commercial real estate (CRE) lending and warehouse lending (FIC Secured Lending). The Deleveraging and Lending industrial placement student will spend 6 – 8 months within the division, with placements starting in January 2018. Industrial Placement Interns in DLG will typically rotate across both the CRE and warehouse business lines, as well as the syndication function focusing on the distribution of loans to clients of DLG.
Training program
The Industrial Placement intern will receive both formal and on the desk training including Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint, financial modelling, presentation skills, valuation training and negotiation skills.
Responsibilities
• Modelling and underwriting of the underlying assets
• Preparing and assisting with credit committee presentations
• Working with the credit risk team and assisting them in their diligence

Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements
• You are an undergraduate studying for a degree in which a year in industry is part of your structured course syllabus.
• All degree disciplines accepted, but applicants must have a keen interest in the financial markets.
• You have strong analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills. You are able to communicate clearly and succinctly and thrive under pressure and ever-changing situations.
• You analyse and interpret complex information quickly and accurately.
• You actively generate and share new ideas and are committed to achieving your career goals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel & PowerPoint
• Project orientated worker
