2023 Investment Management Fall Co-Op Program - Fixed Income Global Quantitative Data Analysis (Boston)
Program Overview
Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) hires undergraduate co-ops to simultaneously contribute to and learn about various groups within our division. Co-ops spend six months fully immersed in their work and MSIM culture, resulting in an enriching and formative experience.
Position Overview
The co-op is a member of Global Income Department’s quantitative analysis team and will help enhance the department’s research capabilities. Projects range from searching for new and interesting datasets, to improving our research of emerging and frontier countries, and creating visual tools so Portfolio Managers and Research Analysts can act on the data. Additionally, the co-op builds models to extract additional value from datasets.
Responsibilities
- Gather, maintain, and distribute macroeconomic data from disparate sources for use in investment research process.
- Build quantitative models for use in the investment process.
- Interpret data, create visualizations, and communicate useful information to the team.
- Assist research and portfolio management team by completing ad hoc tasks and special projects as needed.
- Develop and automate dashboards for portfolio management team.
- Maintain risk models within the portfolio management system.
Requirements
- Available to start in July 2023 and finish role at end of December 2023
- Able to commute into downtown Boston for partial in-person working requirement
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2026
- Concentration in Computer Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance, or any other quantitative field preferred
- Excellent record of academic achievement
- Knowledge of programming language(s) such as Python, R, C#, and SQL
- Strong quantitative skills
- Strong Excel knowledge
- Attentive to detail, well organized, and deadline oriented
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic

In order to be considered, candidates must apply with their resume and transcript through the Morgan Stanley website. Resumes will be reviewed on a rolling basis starting January 12th, 2023 and continuing through February 28th, 2023 or until the role is filled, whichever comes first.
Expected base pay rate for the role will be between $30.00 and $40.00 per hour at the commencement of employment. However, base pay is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonuses and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
