Investment Management Off-Cycle Internship Programme
This is an internship opportunity in our London office within the International Risk Management team. The internship will be 12 months in duration starting in August 2017.
The International Risk Management team is part of the Global Risk and Analysis (GRA) department that provides independent risk management and oversight for Morgan Stanley Investment Management. GRA works with the business functions to ensure that the risk of the business activities are fully articulated, managed and mitigated, depending on senior management’s risk appetite. GRA monitors material risks for both the firm and its clients such as market, operational, counterparty and liquidity.
Interns will have the opportunity to develop and master the analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills they will need to succeed. Interns will learn to employ the skills fundamental to risk management for an asset management firm, including:
• Reading and interpreting regulatory requirements for new AIFMD framework.
• Testing new risk metrics to comply with new regulations
• Reviewing methodologies employed to comply with new regulations
• Preparing reports for existing funds to comply with new requirements
• Assisting in monitoring, managing and reporting exposures at a counterpart, product and portfolio level.

Skills Required:
• You are a high-calibre undergraduate student, majoring in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Economics or other business-related majors.
• You have superior written and verbal communication skills.
• You have strong quantitative orientation.
• You have the ability to manage dynamic priorities.
• You have strong analytical and numerical skills to assimilate complex information rapidly
To apply for the Investment Management internship you need to be fluent in English and have a strong academic background. Fluency in another European language is an advantage.
You should be on track/have received at least a 2:1 or equivalent in your undergraduate degree and at least 320 UCAS points (or equivalent).
