2021 Internal Audit Finance Summer Analyst Program (Mumbai)
Department Profile
Internal Audit is responsible for validating whether the firm operates in a controlled environment with appropriate risk-management processes. Auditors evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the firm’s internal controls using a risk-based methodology developed from professional auditing standards. Internal Audit assists in monitoring the firm’s compliance with internal guidelines set for risk management and risk monitoring, as well as external rules and regulations governing the industry. The team reports directly to the Board Audit Committee and helps verify whether the firm meets all of its fiduciary responsibilities to shareholders, while adhering to corporate-governance standards and legal and regulatory requirements. Internal Audit is comprised of Business, Risk and Technology auditors. Business and Risk auditors focus on understanding the risks that the businesses face and the controls to mitigate those risks.
Primary Responsibilities
- Gain understanding of Internal Audit methodology and concepts
- Develop understanding of key processes, risks and controls present in the Finance function, to identify vulnerabilities / weakness
- Develop an understanding of the Capital Markets business/ Finance areas, by reviewing policies, procedures and applicable regulations that govern the Finance universe
- Participate in initiatives / projects to enhance audit approach and coverage.
Skills required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of banking and especially capital markets products including lifecycle of products e.g. payments, settlements, financial reporting
- General understanding of Capital Markets Business / accounting standards / GAAP and regulations relating to financial institutions
- General understanding of internal control and risks
- Attention to detail and demonstrating strong analytical risks
- Inquisitive nature to get in-depth understanding of any topic
