Placement and duration
The Corporate Affairs Industrial Placement Program is aimed at students with a year in industry as a compulsory or optional element of their degree program. The Program runs annually, beginning in June. The curriculum includes an orientation of the Firm, ongoing professional skills sessions and social and networking events to build Industrial Placements' professional networks.
Training Program
The Program begins with a Firmwide induction with peers from other divisions. This is followed by two days of classroom-based training covering product and industry knowledge, personal effectiveness and technical training, as well as a team-building activity. Industrial Placement students also receive considerable on-the-job training, a series of “Lunch & Learns” networking events, mentoring and work-shadowing opportunities.
Responsibilities
Corporate Affairs has responsibility for building and maintaining the Firm’s reputation across EMEA. Specifically, the team facilitates Morgan Stanley's communications with media audiences and employees, manages the Firm's core social responsibilities, which include volunteering and providing grants to charities, as well as overseeing all aspects of the brand, including advertising campaigns and sponsorships. Roles and responsibilities will vary, but you can expect to gain exposure to some of the below:
•Carrying out desk research across agreed criteria set, such as paid advertising, Corporate Social Responsibility and alumni activity.
•Compiling metrics reports to track and assess the impact of sponsorships in the region.
•Press monitoring for strategic themes or topics of interest for the Firm.
•Maintaining a forward features calendar for Media Relations team.
•Working with colleagues in Community Affairs to support the delivery of strategic projects, such as Global Volunteer Month and The Strategy Challenge.
Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements
•You are an undergraduate student with a year in industry as a compulsory or optional element of your degree program, who has outstanding academic achievements, and are on track for a 2.1 honours degree or equivalent.
•You have excellent writing and desk research skills.
•You have a keen interest in financial services with a proactive work ethic.
•You are proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
•You are client-service oriented.
•You are able to multi-task with close attention to detail.
