Morgan Stanley is seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Co-op to be responsible for maintaining the firm’s organic social presence on all channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, and Twitter). As a member of the Digital Marketing team, they will work with stakeholders across the firm to craft engaging social content that represent the firm’s values, activities, people, and expertise for its key audiences, with the goals of driving brand affinity, audience engagement, and traffic to the website.
Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM) hires undergraduate co-ops to simultaneously contribute to and learn about various groups within our division. Co-ops spend six months fully immersed in their work and MSIM culture, resulting in an enriching and formative experience.
Position Overview
In this role, you will help develop social imagery and copy for specific platforms and will work closely with business partners to ensure their business needs are met. This person will represent the Morgan Stanley Investment Management brand in real time and should be a compelling writer who is conscious of tone, audience, messaging, and narrative. They are responsible for planning and executing a robust social media calendar and communicating internally the firm’s general and platform-specific editorial guidelines, best practices, and policies for social engagement.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a social calendar that defines content, cadence, and channel
- Craft social posts for all brand channels, including LinkedIn and Twitter, that express the firm’s unique voice, uphold the firm’s brand core values, and drive audience and engagement
- Work with global content, marketing, and communications teams to amplify brand stories and translate research and other thought leadership for social platforms
- Ensure that the firm’s social presence is visually interesting by supervising creation of visual assets to support social content and working with video editor to produce compelling videos
- Make data-driven decisions on social media content to optimize engagement and performance
- Work closely with social media operations/analytics manager to support analytics and social listening reports
- Collaborate with team to optimize our current platform strategy, with alignment to the overarching marketing, communications, and business objectives
- Stay aware of constantly evolving social media trends and help develop, maintain, and uphold best practices for social presence
Requirements
- Available to start in July 2023 and finish role at end of December 2023
- Ability to extend co-op into early January 2024 preferred
- Able to commute into downtown Boston OR New York City for partial in-person working requirement
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree with an expected graduation date between December 2024 and June 2026
- Social copywriting experience for a brand with the goals of growing followers, generating engagement, and driving business impact
- Fluency with the largest social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube), second nature understanding of their differentiating strengths and limitations, and an interest in emerging trends and platforms
- Stellar project management skills and attention to detail
- Excitement for pushing creative boundaries within the bounds of a highly governed organization
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Passion for continuous improvement and transforming data into actionable social tactics, and agility in reframing, re-promoting and repositioning content
- Collaborative working style, ability to be empathetic and positively persuasive, and willingness to learn and grow
- Highly conscious of risk and the responsibility of being a steward of brand reputation

Expected base pay rate for the role will be between $30.00 and $40.00 per hour at the commencement of employment. However, base pay is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonuses and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
