Background on the Group
Credit Risk Management (“CRM”) is responsible for the independent identification, evaluation, monitoring and management of Counterparty credit risk associated with various sales and trading activities. Credit risk refers to the risk of loss arising when a Borrower, Counterparty or issuer does not meet its financial obligations to Morgan Stanley. The department is also responsible for assigning credit ratings, setting credit limits, and monitoring Counterparty credit exposure. CRM also interacts with business units to ensure that credit risk assessments are factored into business decisions.
What we offer
Morgan Stanley conducts transactions with a wide range of Counterparties across a broad range of asset classes within Wealth Management. Interns get the opportunity to learn how annual reviews for these counterparties are performed for assessment of creditworthiness and internal quality in Morgan Stanley by assisting in the day-to-day tasks of their respective teams:
- Conduct due diligence for annual reviews for all the assigned loans.
- Conduct company, industry as well as collateral analysis to identify risks on existing loans through the review processes, including incomplete documentation, deteriorating collateral or adverse borrower information.
- Assist in preparing credit memos with recommendations to credit approvers. Articulate recommendation in a clear, concise and informed manner.
- Assist team is completing the annual reviews for authority approval through the Credit Approval System.
- Preparing and distributing key reports using a variety of sources.
