2018 Institutional Equity Sales Summer Associate Program (New York)
The Institutional Equity Sales team is responsible for managing relationships with both the firm’s largest hedge fund and mutual fund Chief Investment Officers and Portfolio Managers.
Day-to-day responsibilities include communicating Equity Research’s fundamental views on stocks, as well as, idea generation and providing access to corporate leadership. Another key function of the desk is to work closely with Global Capital Markets to engage clients in Morgan Stanley sponsored deals (e.g. IPOs, rights issues, block offerings, etc.) and provide relevant market feedback to our bankers and capital markets teams. The Sales team leverages key client relationships for the purpose of cross-selling additional Morgan Stanley equity products, which requires in depth knowledge of the full suite of Morgan Stanley’s large array of services. The Team drives deep and broad dialogue across Institutional accounts by leading with content, which opens the door to multiple monetization opportunities across platforms (Broker votes, Electronic Trading, Prime Brokerage, Swaps, etc.).
We are looking for candidates who can show consistent, early, thoughtful, actionable ideas across numerous equity products along with constant collaboration with research, regional/specialty sales, sales trading, derivatives, and capital markets – globally – to lead market debates, smooth the deal process, drive ideas and help make the broader group as well-informed as possible.
The Institutional Equity Summer Associate Program is a 10-week program consisting of multiple rotations across the various Equity Sales teams (US, Europe, Asia, LatAm/EMEA and Specialty Sales). This allows Summer Associates to gain a broad understanding of various Equity products we sell to hedge fund and long only asset managers. The Program features senior management speaker series, desk teach-ins, networking events, community service, formal performance reviews and a robust mentorship program.
