2023 Technology Graduate Apprenticeship Program (Glasgow)

We currently have opportunities for school leavers to undertake a 4-year Technology Graduate Apprenticeship programme with one of our partner universities; Strathclyde University or University of Glasgow.

We offer 3 unique Technology Graduate Apprenticeship programmes:

Strathclyde University

  • Software Development BSc (Hons)
  • IT Management for Business BSc (Hons)

University of Glasgow

  • Software Engineering BSc (Hons)

Whilst working at Morgan Stanley, we will support you to achieve your degree. You will benefit from theory-based learning as well as the opportunity to develop practical skills in IT, which you will apply as you gain a valuable insight into the financial industry. During the apprenticeship, you will rotate into different areas of the Technology division, to fulfil both your degree requirements and to ensure you have a well-rounded experience.

Requirements

  • A passion for technology
  • A keenness to forge a career in technology, particularly within the financial sector
  • A basic understanding of the types of work undertaken within a technology division
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good attention to detail

Computing Science Programmes:

Software Development BSc (Hons) - Strathclyde University & Software Engineering BSc (Hons) - University of Glasgow

Description

Our development teams design, develop and maintain applications used by our business units. Daily activities include meeting with clients to gather and analyse requirements. They make system design decisions, evaluating, integrating, and developing necessary software, and then test and deploy applications to production. Developing high-performing systems and evolving complex workflows and life-cycle management capabilities are just some of the projects available for developers.

On the Software Development (Strathclyde University) programme, apprentices will attend university one day per week. On the Software Engineering (University of Glasgow) programme, apprentices will attend university full time during teaching blocks throughout the year.

 

Software Development Entry Requirements

The pursuance or completion of a minimum of 4-Scottish Higher Grades at BBBB including either Mathematics, Computing Science, or Physics, and preferably National 5 English at grade C or above. (Will consider HNC/D)

Software Engineering Entry requirements:

The pursuance or completion of a minimum of 4-Scottish Higher Grades at BBBB including Mathematics and ideally two Science subjects. (Will consider HNC/D)

 

Combined IT Programme (Development and Non-Development):

IT Management for Business BSc (Hons) - Strathclyde University

Description

Morgan Stanley Technology consists of both Software Development and Non-development Technology teams. The ITMB degree involves development and non-development modules where you will build a varied skillset. These skills will further enhance in the workplace where you will rotate across multiple functions within Technology to provide a well-rounded insight. Some of the functions you could rotate to include; Project Management, Business Management, Agile team enablement, Technology Risk, and Change Management.

The Technology mission is to ensure the Firm manages its global businesses and serves clients on a market-leading technology platform that is resilient, safe, efficient, smart, fast and flexible, and the team rotations will provide you with insight to how this mission is achieved.

On this programme, apprentices will attend university one day per week.

IT Management for Business Entry Requirements

The pursuance or completion of a minimum of 4-Scottish Higher Grades at BBBB including Mathematics and English. (Will consider HNC/D)

 

Please note that the Apprenticeship programme is open to Scottish Students, in their 5th or 6th year of High School.

Early Applications are encouraged, as recruitment is ongoing.

Graduate Apprenticeships are for those based in Scotland. These opportunities, funded by the Scottish Government through Scottish Funding Council and SAAS.

The programme start date will be September 2023. The deadline for applications is the 12th March 2023.
