2016 Legal Summer Associate Program (New York)
Morgan Stanley Summer Diversity Program Opportunity for First Year Law Students
The Legal and Compliance Division has approximately 1,250 professionals worldwide and provides a wide range of legal and compliance services to the Firm's business units. Our professionals strive to deliver high-quality advice in a timely way. This is true whether we are seeking to defuse a potentially adversarial investor dispute, help structure a complex and franchise-sensitive cross-border transaction, develop concise and useful training, or provide any of the host of other services we render.
The Legal and Compliance Division provides support and strategy for all of Morgan Stanley’s businesses worldwide. On the Legal side, our attorneys counsel business units on transactions, litigations, regulatory compliance, sales-practice related customer complaints, arbitrations and other matters. Professionals in the Compliance department may be responsible for, among other things, record keeping guidance, account surveillance, managing regulatory matters, and monitoring of broker-dealer activities. Our summer interns fill assignments as necessary and may work with our Institutional and Retail Litigation Group, Compliance Department or any of the Firm’s Global Coverage areas. Responsibilities may include, for example, drafting legal agreements, conducting research, drafting memoranda or briefs, reviewing policies and procedures, editing contracts, and attending internal meetings, arbitration hearings, or mediations. The interns will also participate in a variety of activities within the Firm, as well as with outside counsel partners.
This position is available through the Legal and Compliance Division Diversity & Inclusion Committee (LCDDIC) and we encourage diversity candidates to apply. The LCDDIC focuses on recruiting, retention, and community outreach, in support of Firm wide diversity initiatives. The LCDDIC seeks to maintain an environment where diversity is respected and encouraged, leverage our differences to enhance our effectiveness, and increase diversity and inclusion at every level of our Division.
