Corporate Strategy & Development Summer Associate – Hong Kong
The 10-week Corporate Strategy & Development Summer Associate program takes place at Morgan Stanley’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. Summer Associates will have the opportunity to support the Firm’s senior management in the development and execution of critical corporate initiatives and business decisions. They can expect to develop advanced problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and a deeper understanding of Morgan Stanley’s businesses in the region as well as the broader financial services industry.
Training program
This intensive 10-week program begins with a Firm-wide orientation to Morgan Stanley’s businesses. Your training will continue throughout the summer with on-the-job training and one-on-one sessions run by senior executives. Similarly, you will have many opportunities to interact with peers and senior colleagues through a series of networking, social, charity and mentoring events.
Responsibilities
As a Corporate Strategy & Development Summer Associate, you will help drive the analysis and strategic thinking behind key decisions and discussions around the Firm’s top priorities. You will have different responsibilities subject to the projects you may be involved in, which typically include:
Evaluating market trends, emerging challenges/opportunities, and regulatory developments to develop strategic insights and implications for Morgan Stanley businesses
Conducting analyses such as financial modeling or company valuation to support the execution of the Firm's strategic initiatives such as acquisitions or divestures.
Partner with team members from different business units/functions to help drive forward business initiatives
Prepare presentation and accompanying supplementary materials for external and internal conferences for the Firm's senior management
Qualifications/ Skills/ Requirements
You are a first-year MBA student with outstanding academic standing and professional achievement in prior work experiences
You have a track record of leadership in an academic, professional, or extracurricular setting
You have exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, and have the ability to review and synthesize complex information and form independent judgments
You have strong work ethics and work effectively in a team environment
You have outstanding communication skills and are able to convey complex ideas effectively and confidently, both verbally and in writing, to senior audience
You have excellent interpersonal skills, and are able to form effective working relationships with people at all levels
You have the ability to manage multiple projects, meet competing deadlines, and handle high-pressure situations
You are culturally sensitive, adaptable, with a high level of maturity and sharp attention to detail
You strive for excellence and exhibit the highest ethical standards
Fluency in English is required; fluency in Mandarin is preferred
